Neuroradiology Fellowship

About the Program

The Neuroradiology fellowship program at Allegheny Health Network (AHN) provides the opportunity to become an active part of a non-profit, 13-hospital academic medical system serving Western Pennsylvania with a large regional footprint that extends into surrounding states. Graduate Medical Education at AHN is comprised of more than 500 trainees across 46 residency and fellowship programs, among the largest in the country.

We are an ACGME-accredited program offering one year of post-graduate education in Neuroradiology to one qualified candidate per year.  Centered at our largest academic hospitals, Allegheny General Hospital on Pittsburgh’s North Shore and Western Pennsylvania Hospital (West Penn Hospital) in Bloomfield (Pittsburgh’s “Little Italy”), our program emphasizes excellence in training. As a patient-centered and physician-led health system, we strive to create a  remarkable health experience, freeing people to be their best.

Fellows will have access to our extensive network of subspecialty referrals. Advanced imaging performed at our facilities includes, but is not limited to: comprehensive stroke imaging, MR perfusion, time-resolved MRA, MR spectroscopy, functional MRI, head and neck imaging, MR neurography, CT myelography/cisternography, image-guided interventions including neuroangiography, and pediatric imaging. Fellows will play an active role in the numerous multi-disciplinary conferences offered at our health system including: neuro-oncology tumor board, head and neck tumor board, neurovascular conference, neurology/neurosurgery combined conference, as well as our regular divisional interesting case conference. The Simulation, Teaching, and Academic Research Center (STAR Center), Allegheny Research Institute, and AHN Cancer Institute further expand the clinical and research support offered to our trainees.

Our diverse team of outstanding neuroradiology faculty is currently comprised of 11 fellowship-trained neuroradiologists, each with unique areas of expertise forming a collegial, inclusive, energetic, and knowledgeable team. Our program participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) and applications can be made through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Applicants must be eligible and approved for licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
