Allegheny Health Network has three hospitals that provide specialized services for patients who have suffered traumatic injuries.
Established in 1979, Allegheny General Hospital was the first in Pennsylvania to open a trauma intensive care unit and first in the region to become accredited as a trauma center. We serve as a referral resource for communities throughout the tri-state area. Our trauma/acute care surgeons divide their time caring for trauma patients, critically ill or injured patients in the Shock Trauma ICU, and patients who need emergency general surgery (these patients may be presenting to the Emergency Department or they may have been transferred from community hospitals for a higher level of care).

Forbes Hospital was accredited as a Level II Trauma Center in 2013, bringing trauma services to residents of Monroeville and the eastern suburbs. As part of its commitment to providing the highest level of trauma care for the region, Forbes Hospital will complete a new ICU in 2015.
The West Penn Hospital Burn Center treats more than 2,000 pediatric and adult patients each year from Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland and New York.
