The Division of Supportive Care and Geriatrics provides educational opportunities and resources for all levels of learners.
For community physicians: We provide POLST (Physician Order Life Sustaining Treatment) Train the Trainer sessions in various forums, lectures and symposia.
For Fellows/Residents:Internal Medicine residents rotate 1 month with our Division in a combined Geriatrics/Supportive Care rotation that provides experience in outpatient Geriatrics, inpatient Supportive Care consults, inpatient hospice, outpatient home visits, and outpatient clinics. Fellows and residents from other institutions can choose to do elective with our Division as well. We also provide communication skills training in “breaking bad news” and conducting a “family meeting” for our residents through our simulation center.
For students and visiting students:Many students from medical schools and other health professional schools choose to rotate with us and wish to have an educational experience in Supportive Care and Geriatrics.
