The STAR Center of Allegheny Health Network is an American Society of Anesthesiologists-endorsed simulation program part of the Simulation Education Network.
We offer one-day simulation courses that fulfill the American Board of Anesthesiologists Part IV MOCA 2.0 requirements. Class sizes are kept small (up to eight participants) to ensure each course can be conducted in a professional yet relaxed manner with an emphasis on participant learning.
Our courses are designed to realistically present both common and rare critical events in anesthesia practice and offer opportunities for hands-on skills practice. Each scenario allows participants to problem-solve, practice crisis resource management techniques, and manage team dynamics in operating room, ICU, PACU, or other off-site settings and will be followed by a group debriefing. Each participant will be the primary anesthesiologist in one scenario and may serve as an observer or assistant in other scenarios.
