LGBTQ+ Health Services

Compassionate care for LGBTQ+ individuals

Navigating the health care system may not always be easy or comfortable for LGBTQ+ individuals. You deserve a health care team that understands your needs and the unique challenges you face.

At AHN, we believe everyone deserves access to respectful and comprehensive care that affirms their identity and supports their well-being. Through the AHN Center for Inclusion Health, we're able to meet the unique needs of the LGBTQ+ community.

To ensure accessible and inclusive care for everyone, we educate our care teams, offer gender-affirming medical and surgical services, and connect individuals with the resources and support they need to live their best life. Our goal is to create a welcoming and affirming environment where every person, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, receives the highest quality care.

Gender-affirming surgical care

We work closely with Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and Highmark Wholecare to make sure health plans cover research-backed services for gender affirmation. AHN currently provides a wide range of primary care services and certain gender affirming surgeries at multiple locations.

Our surgeons have experience performing several types of gender-affirming surgery, including:

  • Breast reduction
  • Breast augmentation
  • Chest reconstruction / masculinization
  • Orchiectomy
  • Hysterectomy
  • Facial feminization surgery
  • Trachea shave (Adam's apple reduction)

We are committed to making it easier for you to get comprehensive medical and surgical services, in a setting close to home. We can also refer you to competent centers for other surgeries, including reconstructive bottom surgery, when needed. Procedures that we refer to other providers for include:

  • Vaginoplasty
  • Metoidioplasty
  • Phalloplasty
