Allegheny Valley Hospital (AVH) is a 190-bed inpatient facility located in Natrona Heights. Since its beginning in 1909, AVH has provided health care to 170,000 residents in portions of Allegheny, Butler, Westmoreland, and Armstrong counties.
At AVH, our nurses are known for providing high-quality, compassionate care. Our nursing philosophy puts patients at the center of everything we do. We support patients and families during some of life’s most difficult challenges.
Has a nurse made a difference in your life or the life of a loved one? Show your appreciation by making a donation in his or her honor. Your donation will go toward continuing education and professional development.
At AVH we welcome both new and experienced nurses who want to become a part of our team. You’ll be able to advance your professional knowledge while providing compassionate care. Our nurses enjoy an education-rich environment where you are able to learn new techniques while saving lives.
Our nurses also develop leadership skills through various unit-based and global lean teams and governance councils. You participate in decision making to help improve patient outcomes and experiences.
AVH nurses get opportunities for both personal and professional growth. Graduate nurses hired by Allegheny Health Network and AVH complete a 12-month Nurse Residency Program. Newly hired registered nurses complete a structured orientation program with preceptor support.
We encourage you to participate in unit councils and hospital committees. And we provide clinical experiences for nursing students from our Citizen’s School of Nursing program and other nursing programs throughout the region.
