Residency candidates must be graduates of an LCME accredited medical school in the United States or Canada. Graduates of foreign medical schools must have an ECFMG certificate.
Three satisfactory reference letters are required.
Our hospital participates in the matching program so that all interested candidates should apply using ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service) by December 1 for proper processing.
July 1 is the beginning date for the residency program, although other dates will deserve consideration. The interview period for residency candidates is from October to January.

No, we require current reference letters.
Do you have any limit on the year of graduation (i.e., how many years the applicant has been graduated from medical school)?
No, we do not have a strict limit on year of graduation.
How many positions do you have?
We currently have 12 residents.
Does the department sponsor visa, if so which ones?
Yes, the department sponsors J1 visas.
Do you accept applications from Foreign and/or International Graduates?

Do I need to have United States research/clinical experience?
No, previous U.S. research/clinical experience is not required. However, previous exposure to pathology is preferred.
When do I need to take the Step 2 exam?
Your application will be considered if you have not taken either exam. However, Step 2 should be completed prior to finalizing the rank order list.
Do you have a minimum USMLE score?
No, we do not have a minimum requirement above the passing level. Each applicant will be considered on a case by case basis.
Are there any special electives?
Residents are given the opportunity to do outside electives in areas they are interested in.
What is the timeline for your interview process?
We conduct interviews during the months of October through January with appropriate breaks for the holidays. We begin to review applications in late September and send invitations throughout October and November.
Is there a meal allowance?

What library resources does your program offer?
Our Health Sciences Library contains more than 11,000 volumes, subscribes to over 166 journals, and offers you all major indices and citation retrieval services on-site to support clinical, educational, and research activities of residents and medical staff members. It is supervised by full-time medical librarians who can provide you with individualized teaching and assistance. The library is opened 24/7 for employee use.
Additionally, the pathology department has access to Clinicalkey and a resident’s library that is updated every year.
